Inspiring Communities Through Song

I am writing to ask for sponsorship for a brand new community event taking place in Chester’s wonderful new theatre Storyhouse in March 2018. This exciting project will be unique in Chester and hasn’t been done before.

AmaSing is a new CIC company which was set up in April 2017. The company aims to work collaboratively with educational establishments, arts specialists and schools, to enhance children’s wellbeing, confidence, self-esteem and creativity through singing projects and performances. Through the projects community cohesion will develop and bring together different groups from a variety of backgrounds and needs.

I am a primary school teacher and for the past 20 years have organised and led many music projects involving several schools in Chester. I am currently organising AmaSing’s first project which will take place in March 2018. This will be involve children from 33 primary schools in Chester and Ellesmere Port, students from The University of Chester and House of Dance, professional composers Matt Baker and Andrew Smith, The Hammond School dancers, The Catholic High School choir “Voicebox”, adult vocal group “Harmonix Vocal Collective” and a live professional band.

The performances, three in total, will be held at Storyhouse on the 12-14th March 2018. Over the three days there will be more than 1000 children performing a selection of songs. Two of the songs will be specially composed for the project. One song has been composed by the children, the University of Chester students and Matt Baker about making the world a better place. The second song has been composed by Andrew Smith which relates to the Macmillan Cancer Charity and inspires the children to believe in themselves and live every day to the full. Another song the children will sing is supporting Chester Zoo’s Save the Songbird Appeal. The children will perofm 10 songs in total all about well being, believing in themselves and positive thinking.

Throughout the project we will be working with Education students at The University of Chester and will be running singing workshops for them. They will then deliver workshops with teachers and pupils at all the schools to help the children learn all the songs that will be performed at Storyhouse. The project will aim to support teachers and student teachers professional development, providing opportunities working with arts specialists and  expand on their skills delivering arts in the curriculum.

At each performance there will be a stands set up by designated charities so they will be provided with a platform to educate and raise awareness for their causes. For every ticket sold money will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support Charity.

It would be wonderful to get a sponsor or donations  for this exciting community project. The cost of hiring Storyhouse including the lighting and production team is approximately £10,000 for three nights and hiring of  a live band which would really enhance the performances and experience for the children would be £3,000.

Sponsors, in return for their generosity will have the opportunity to advertise their company on this website, on the stage through lighting/on projection background, tickets, banners, posters, flyers and programmes. They will also be able to set up their own stand at Storyhouse on the nights of the performances. An area could be provided if they wish to host drinks in The Garrett Bar.  The children will all be wearing AmaSing tshirts so  the name of their company could also be printed on them. There will be a lot of publicity for this event through media coverage, radio etc and so sponsors will be highlighted in this.

This would be a perfect community celebration for businesses in Chester to become involved in supporting a wide range of diverse communities and families.

Thank you very much for considering my request and I look forward to hearing from you.
